Megalithic Portal Access improvements

I'm pleased to say that the project to double the internet bandwidth available to the Megalithic Portal has been completed, and proper load sharing is happening on both our URLs www.megalithic.co.uk and www.megalithic.info You can use either as an entry point and performance should be much improved.

I've been planning this upgrade since the summer and can only apologise for the poor access to the site that many people have put up with during busy periods in the last few months.

It's involved re-activating our BT phone line, getting an additional broadband ADSL connection from Eclipse Internet. I am paying a premium for good performance, unlike with some of the 'free broadband' shysters who I steered clear of. It was essential to keep good throughput in busy periods such as evenings in Western Europe, when the current NTL line we have been using suffers badly as you probably know.

So that's two broadband lines at a cost of about £75 a month, £100 outlay for a new dual router and modem and many evenings of manual reading and fiddling about to bring you this free service.

The Megalithic Portal has never sought or received funding from any external bodies save for a bit of advertising revenue, so please think of our online shop when looking for Christmas gifts, or use any of our links on your next visit to amazon.co.uk, amazon.com or our other advertisers.
