TV and RadioBBC2 next Tuesday (18/03/2003) at 9 p.m. 'Meet the Ancestors'. About Sheffield University's excavations at the Cladh Hallan site on South Uist (Outer Hebrides). The UK's first mummies!

They found a mummy which had been buried in the floor of an Iron Age round house. It's been posited that it had been mummified by being 'smoked' as it hung in the rafters. It was around 400 years old before it had been buried. The really weird bit is that the head they found on it belonged to someone else!

There were other finds too, as the programme will no doubt show.
