A series of evening talks are taking place this November at Wrexham Museum in conjunction with the display of the incredible Mold Gold Cape which is on temporary loan from the British Museum until 17 December 2005 as centrepiece of the 'Re-creations: Visualizing Our Past' exhibition.

The talks cover both the restoration of the Gold Cape and the lives and culture of the Bronze Age people who created this remarkable artefact.

The Gold Cape is also joined by other more recent local Bronze Age finds which will also return to the owners, the National Museum and Gallery in Cardiff, when the exhibition ends.

Why are these important North Walian pieces not on permanent display in the place they came from instead of providing fleeting tittilation to the tourists of London and Cardiff? The words 'Marbles' and 'Elgin' spring to mind...

It only goes to show that if local treasures are allowed to be displayed in local museums , they are well received and much admired, nearly 12,00 people visited Wrexham museum to view the Gold cape and the Burton Hoard surley an indication of local interest

And why are the talks all on a Thursday? Surely a weekend evening would be more appropriate. I am extremely interested in Bronze Age Wales but 8hrs driving time is impossible on a weekday evening.
Visualise our past be buggered!!! I can't visualise getting there.
