Kadesh Tell submitted by AlexHunger on 11th Jan 2007. Tell overlooking the Kadesh Battlefield where Ramses II and the Hittites waged war about 1300 BCE.
Some Assyrian artifacts were found there, but excavation is limited on account of the grave of an Islamic saint as well as a Mosque being locaed on the man made hill.

This mound is believed to date back to between 900AD and 1500AD, to have originally looked like a flat-topped pyramid, and assumed to have been the residence of a chief priest. It was one of seven mounds in the area. The site was abandoned by natives when the Spanish arrived in 1674. Lake Jackson Mounds Archaeological State Park submitted by stonetracker on 20th Dec 2025. Mound 2 (rectangular platform temple mound), is the largest in the park at 36 ft high and likely the earliest built. Although very few excavations have taken place here, it is safe to assume it was the paramount temple mound in the complex. The excavations of this mound, limited to salvage operations in one small location, revealed layered soils and red clay caps but no evidence of structures.
