| Albert Uderzo is a great Illustrator/Cartoonist. The Asterix books written before the death of Goscinny-and by Gosciny, are mainly excellent. But the books written and illustrated by Uderzo after Gosciny died are unreadable-- such bad plots/stories, shame really.......... He's an increadable artist but can't write a storyline to save his life. |

| If I can go all Media Studies for a moment, Asterix (or Obelix to be exact) is about the only reminder from popular culture that, to misquote Tom Bullock, 'There's more to Stones than Stonehenge'. It's always Stonehenge this, 'Stonehenge of the...' that. Asterix makes a refreshing change. |

| Whilst on my travels round France, I came across this lovely representation of Obelix, everybody's favourite menhir delivery man, made out of straw bales. He was standing at a road junction near the village of Sériers, an area well blessed with megalithic remains, in the Departement of Cantal, Auvergne. |

| Brilliant! Wonder what its about? In one of my previous jobs, I borrowed the Asterisk chariot from the publishers. Hitched it to a white van and drove it south down the M1. Costumes were hired and I borrowed a horse from a rag 'n bone man. Then we joined our local carnival as Asterisk, Obelisk, Cleopatra and a Roman (me) | ||||
