Steve Marshall's renowned book Exploring Avebury: The Essential Guide is just out in a newly expanded Second Edition. To celebrate, History Press have very kindly offered three copies to give away to Megalithic Portal readers! COMPETITION NOW CLOSED

Steve Marshall, who lived for more than twenty years near Avebury and Stonehenge, reveals the vital importance of water, light and sound - allowing us to begin to see Avebury through the eyes of those who built it. A book for anyone who wants to move beyond a casual visit and truly understand this extraordinary landscape.

To enter, email [email protected] with the subject line Avebury Competition (you MUST include that to be eligible) and tell us the name of your favourite monument, stone or landscape feature in the Avebury World Heritage Site, and (briefly) why it resonates with you. Text only, no photos or attachments please - although you are very welcome to upload photos in the usual way.

The competition closes at the end of 17th July 2026 and winners will be notified by email. UK and international entries are very welcome. Good luck!
