Re: Celebrating the Bull Ring henge: Talks and activities Sat 30th July, near Buxton by Runemage on Sunday, 31 July 2011 (User Info | Send a Message) | | so parking on the actual henge was considered to be ok by the organisers?
Did you go in and draw this to anyone's attention at the time, when they would have had the opportunity to do something about it?

| Re: Celebrating the Bull Ring henge: Talks and activities Sat 30th July, near Buxton by Anonymous on Sunday, 31 July 2011 | Firstly, yes that is me (megadread/Geoff) on the Devils Den, secondly, i didn't post the 4x4 pic here, though i have posted it in numerous places and forwarded it to a number of people also, anyone of which could have posted it here, which i have no complaint about.
I did draw this matter to the attention of several people, none of whom were able/willing to do anything about it.
The situation came about as the people attending the open day took up most of the car park leaving the football team nowhere else to park, though in no way does that excuse their behaviour, obviously.
I will be contacting the appropriate authorities with this matter tomorrow which will hopefully see it never happen again.

Re: Celebrating the Bull Ring henge: Talks and activities Sat 30th July, near Buxton by Runemage on Sunday, 31 July 2011 (User Info | Send a Message) | Geoff/Megadred, just to clarify, please let me know if this is correct.
1) You took the pic of the football team's vehicles parking on the bank of the henge.
2) You went in to the event and spoke to several people but nothing was done.
3) You initially circulated this image around online but not here.
4) Someone else posted it here with that snippy comment.
5) You are contacting people to make sure no-one parks on any part of the henge in the future.
6) Somehow, you ascertained that the offending vehicles belong to a football team and were nothing to do with the Megalithic Portal's Event that day. | [ Reply to This ]
| Re: Celebrating the Bull Ring henge: Talks and activities Sat 30th July, near Buxton by Anonymous on Sunday, 31 July 2011 | Yes, all of that is correct Runemage, though i did mention when distributing that pic (and others) that it was fine for anyone to use it in any way they see fit to highlight the problem.

Re: Celebrating the Bull Ring henge: Talks and activities Sat 30th July, near Buxton by Runemage on Sunday, 31 July 2011 (User Info | Send a Message) | Hi Geoff,
It just seems a bit strange (to me anyway) and somewhat discourteous that you didn't comment here, the event was organised and publicised here with a lot of effort from folks on this site yet the first we* heard about it was by way of a deliberate sarcastic anonymous (they think !) comment.
* we in this context being the ones of us that weren't there, of course.
There's enough puerile spats going on without giving people the opportunity to create any more. We should all be working together on this and other important issues.

| Re: Celebrating the Bull Ring henge: Talks and activities Sat 30th July, near Buxton by Anonymous on Sunday, 31 July 2011 | Runemage, i'm not a member here and didn't realise till i was pointed in the direction of the comment that you could post without registering, or i might well have done.
At the moment i'm lessening my activities on megalithic forums, after a good few years, last thing i wanted was to join another forum, for any reason.
Btw, one of the event organisers told me personally they would be posting a similar pic here to show the problem, i therefore didn't see any need to post myself.

Re: Celebrating the Bull Ring henge: Talks and activities Sat 30th July, near Buxton by Runemage on Sunday, 31 July 2011 (User Info | Send a Message) | Oops, sorry Geoff, I thought you'd posted here before. >blush<
I think everyone who went to the event is just arriving back home and hasn't had chance to post anything yet, that's why it seemed a bit odd for it to have appeared here the way it did. No worries :-)
We won't pester you to join, you can post comments here without registering and you can read but not post on the forums too, so you're welcome to use the site that way if you'd prefer :-)

| Re: Celebrating the Bull Ring henge: Talks and activities Sat 30th July, near Buxton by Anonymous on Monday, 01 August 2011 | I think your being naive if you think there are 2 Paulses on TNA - it's the same one and it's his site so of course he's the forum moderator as well! I'm sure you know that though
There is a similar photo in circulation of Paulus jumping around on top of the Devils Den. But it's ok because they were taking photos of cupmarks. Idiots | [ Reply to This ]

Re: Celebrating the Bull Ring henge: Talks and activities Sat 30th July, near Buxton by Andy B on Monday, 01 August 2011 (User Info | Send a Message) | Hello,
I've just got back home from staying near Macclesfield last night. I don't have mobile internet or email and was too knackered in any case.
There were three events going on that day. A cricket match, a football match and our open day. Yes it was the football people's idea to open the gate that led through past the henge to some hard standing that they said was overflow parking. It was first mentioned to me at about 11am and this was the first I had been aware of any overflow car park.
I said I would prefer they didn't open the gate due to problems with cars coming in and out when people were going to and from the henge but we didn't at that time know how many people would be arriving and ultimately we had no say in it.
When I was asked to announce about moving the car to allow the overflow gate to be opened we were well into our talks sessions in the hall and I was immediately concerned with good relations with the community association, whose hall we were using. The...

Number of Participants? Re: Celebrating the Bull Ring henge by bat400 on Monday, 01 August 2011 (User Info | Send a Message) | | Any estimate of how many people were there during the day? | [ Reply to This ]
Number of Participants? Re: Celebrating the Bull Ring henge by Andy B on Monday, 01 August 2011 (User Info | Send a Message) | | Others were counting better than me but full hall most of the day, which probably seats about 100. Queues for the food. Approx 30 people on each of Tim's henge tours. People coming and going all day so certainly hundreds. | [ Reply to This ]
