Autumn Equinox marked in Co Meath

On the morning of the 20th September, RTE, the Irish state broadcaster, were at the summit of Carnbane East in the early hours of the morning to film the equinox illumination at Cairn T, Loughcrew.
This footage was screened on all major news bulletins throughout the day and features some superb photography of the event.

Ken,

all I can say is spectacular and brilliant! Cheers for providing us with that wonderful slide show. I have had the opportunity to visit Loughcrew twice, the first in December 2002, cloudy conditions, the second last October, beautiful day and with access into the chamber-amazing. Through your photos, I am able to sense the true brilliance of Cairn T.

Excellent. I hope my next article will go some way to explain how the various Prediction arrangements work. I agree with Martin Brennan.

Hi AngieLake, glad you enjoyed the photos. I added some more to the slideshow this evening.
It really is something special up there and though I am a sceptical kind of guy I couldn't help noticing wierdness while in and around the cairns. There was a professional photographer there inside the cairn and he was having awful trouble getting his camera to focus when there was plenty of light to allow the autofocus to work, as I was chatting to him I checked mine but for some reason my camera would not let me move the focus point from the top middle position until I switched it off and back on again, it happened everytime even though the focus position lock wasn't on. The camera worked fine again when I was taking pictures on the way back down the hill. I was up there again this morning and oddly it was happening again. Dont know why this happened but it was very strange, the other photographer saw the trouble I was having too so make of that what you will...

      Hi Ken. Thanks for posting this link, but I was still unable to access it. 'A general error has occured' came up on the page, overlaying the Real video 'screen'. I can't do anything about it now, as am off on holiday for a week as of tomorrow. Also no time to view the extra pics on slide show, but will have a look in October.
      Your comment on the weirdness in the chamber at equinox was interesting. Maybe the 'spirits' of the place didn't want you all in there at that special time, or perhaps there was some unusual magnetic activity triggered by the sun's rays? Maybe I have a 'too vivid' imagination...........?! What do you think it was??

Thank you so much for this Ken. I have just viewed your own slide show of the event, and it was wonderful to 'be there' again! (Visited in 2001, and spent three sunny hours filming, photographing, browsing and dowsing!) Couldn't view the RTE link unfortunately.
