Not strictly archaeology on TV, but a programme on Channel 4 on Tuesday 7th October (10pm GMT) may be of interest to Portal readers. Entitled 'A Very British UFO Hoax' it tells the story of what happened when a team of experts were set the challenge of creating a hoax UFO sighting over the village of Avebury in the summer of this year.

The team overcame technical failings, legal problems and design flaws to produce a 25ft flying saucer which was covered in detail by the national and international press over the next few days.

No one in the village was fooled! (No matter what the tv prog may say)
I watched it for 30 minutes and got bored. I never even took any photos of it!
Any UFO that travels at 3mph and buzzes like a hairdryer is not that impressive to me.
A local villager followed the balloon to Yatesbury and watched them loading it into a truck.
Another C4 waste of time and money.

    All very interesting!
    Bit of light hearted fun in an otherwise dull and boring world.
    But what did it cost ?
    All those highly paid camera crews from London and their minions.
    Still the advertisers are paying, aren't they?
