The Dan-yr-Ogof site has been used as a shelter by humans for thousands of years. Finds uncovered here include the bones of red deer dating back 7,000 years and 42 skeletons in the Bone cave, some of which date back to the Bronze Age.

The showcaves also feature a reconstructed Iron Age village.

For further details see The Showcaves website.

Just to add... As far as I could work out there are three modern stone circles at Dan-Yr-Ogof, two of them are large the other small.
The circles have out lying stones and there are some stone rows and a short avenue.
In two of the caves, the Cathedral Cave and the Bone Cave are dioramas of cave life.
There is a small museum on site about the caves.

Also has some modern stone circles and rows in the grounds and two modern cromlechs one of which has a diorama of neolithic men sorting human bones in it.
These were set up for the millienium.
Also there are two cairns in the corner of one of the fields.Acccording to the sign they are bronze age burial cairns.

I remember going here when I was probably 9; loved it - there was even spooky music they played in the caves, and I think even some big dinosaur figures outside - but this was circa 1980! I also remember that it rained all day. . . .

Visitors vote Cave the Tops

DAN YR OGOF caves have won yet another award at an Oscar-style awards ceremony last month.

The caves scooped the National Tourism award, sponsored by Wales and Boarders Trains, after they showed they offer an innovative and exciting visitors experience.

Showcaves chairman Ashford Price said: "Being among the finalists for these awards is a great honour for us and a reflection of the hard work of each member of our staff.

"We were very badly hit by foot and mouth and this year is the first time that our visitor rates have returned to normal.

"It is fantastic to win an award this year in particular because it will definitely provide a boost for all of our staff who have worked so hard over the past two years."

The site includes one of the world's largest dinosaur parks, an Iron Age Farm which is based on archaeological evidence, a museum and a Shire Horse Centre.

The Top Day Out in Wales award was one of 10 accolades handed out on the evening, which celebrates the achievement of top businesses, organisations and individuals in the £2.5billion-a-year industry.

For the first time members of the public were given the opportunity to vote.

Wales Tourist Board chairman Phillip Evans said: "This year's finalists and winners have more reason than ever to be proud of their achievements because they are here purely on the nomination of the people who really count, visitors."
