Exhibition of archaeological studies on West Yeo Farm, Witheridge, Fri/Sat 26th Jul by Andy B on Friday, 19 July 2013
(User Info | Send a Message)
Exhibition of photographs, results of surveys and artefacts from the Mesolithic to the 20th century. Intensive fieldwalking in the past few years has produced a collection of Mesolithic and Neolithic stone tools: flints, rubbing stones, quartzes etc.

Excavations have found remains of a possible early medieval building and a large collection of local North Devon coarseware pottery. The project included geophysical surveys, an earthwork survey of the causeway to the river, and oral history recordings of a family who lived and worked there during the 20th century.

After the exhibition closes at 3pm, there will be an opportunity to visit the farm (1.5 miles away) for a guided farm walk and cream tea.
