markj99 visited on 24th May 2021 - their rating: Cond: 3 Amb: 5 Access: 3 Bombie 2 is located on a gorse covered ridge on a SSW-NNE Axis at NX 72517 49733. This is different from the listed grid reference, a mistake copied from Canmore ID 64436. It is difficult to find in rough terrain broken up by beef cattle. The Bombie 2 panels were largely hidden under turf on my recent visit.

A concentration of seven rock surfaces (A-F) decorated with cup-and-ring marks (up to six rings), mostly heavily weathered. The best preserved motifs are on panel F, where two cup-and-ring marks and channels with peck-marks are visible.
Note: the grid reference from Canmore (link below) is inaccurate, the site is located circa 200m to the east.
For more information see Canmore ID 64436 which describes the Bombie rock art as: "these markings ... generally lie along the tops of three long barrel-shaped rock-ridges; some additional features were also noted. Panel (a) bears 21 cups in total: 7 as single cups, one cup with a single ring another cup with a gapped ring; a cup with two rings; three concentric rings with a line of parallel cups, one in each ring and one in the centre; a set of three very eroded partial concentric rings each with a central cup and runnel flowing in from SE; one cup with a N-flowing runnel is surrounded by traces of six rings, almost weathered away; adjacent to this on NE is a cup with a runnel, surrounded by six eroded rings - the outermost ring has a cup in it, and on the opposite side of the circle, a large cup spans the three outermost rings. (b) three cups surrounded by four, three and four rings respectively, the set in the N having a runnel descending due N. One yard NE, the rock sheet continues with a cup and six much eroded rings, and a runnel coming in from SE; a cup and eight much eroded rings; and four single cups. One yard NW of the previous panel, on a very dome-shaped area of rock, are (c) a cup-and-one-gapped-ring; a cup-and-four-gapped-rings with a channel entering from SE; a single cup; adjacent and partly quarried off is a cup-and-five-rings, two cups lying between 3rd and 4th rings, and a channel flowing in from E. (d) The cup-and-four-rings that Coles described as lying 19ft NE of 'c' could not be located; however, a new panel (f) was discovered under turf several yards SE of 'c'. It features: ten cups, one surrounded by one ring; another with three rings and a flow-channel; also at least 30 midget cups. Most of the carvings on a, b, c and e are highly eroded."
