Bombie 3 is located beside a gorse bush c. 10 yards N from the SW corner of the electric fence round the pond. The rock art panel is at the base of a gorse bush within several yards of the fence. There is a large cup and multiple rings marking centrally placed on a roughly triangular panel. Smaller fainter cup and ring markings in the bottom apexes are covered in turf. I left them covered to protect them.

Rock Art in Dumfries and Galloway

A small rock surface located on the edge of a hilltop, just above a pond. It is decorated with a cup with eight rings and cup with four rings.

Note: the grid reference from Canmore (link below) is inaccurate, the site is located circa 150m to the SE.

Canmore ID 77658 which describes the motifs in a little more detail: "3 cups in total (2 solo); 1 cup surrounded by 8 rings with the quarter section of a 9th ring (a runnel descends from the central cup steeply towards the SE); 1 central ring (complete) is surrounded by 4 further rings (gapped) the outermost possessing a cup (runnel from central ring descends to SE); 1 central ring (complete) is surrounded by a further 4 complete rings (runnel descends ENE)."

There appears to be some debate about the actual position of Bombie 3. I recorded it as NX 72509 49837. It is easily found by going to the SW corner of the electric fence round the pond in the NE corner of the field. Walk 10 yards N parallel to the fence to a gorse bush. Bombie 3 is adjacent to the gorse bush within several yards of the fence.
Canmore ID 78856 suggests that the rock panel directly E of Bombie 3 has one large unevenly-shaped oval and one faint horseshoe ring. I observed the oval depression but not the horseshoe ring.
