Navigating the maze of narrow roads to Stall Moor. 2. Finding a safe place to park up safely close to Stall Moor Once you have completed these two tasks the walk to Stalldown Stone Row is a picnic.

Stalldown Cairn Circle
Stalldown Cairn Circle submitted by davep : The cairn in the middle of Stalldown Stone Row. From the Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks (PDW) page for Stalldown Cairn Circle. (Vote or comment on this photo)
This small circle lies adjacent to the impressive Stalldown row, and indeed two of the outer stones are more appropriate to the row alignment. One of these stones lies flat, while the other is a pointed pillar aligned with the row.

Circle diameter: 16 Feet, Number of stones: 9

Update November 2019: Information about this cairn circle comes from the Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks (PDW) website - see their entries for the Stalldown Cairn Circle and the Stalldown Stone Row and Terminal Cairn, which tells us: "(this) cairn (is) in (the) middle of length of stone row. The northern part of the row is aligned precisely in the centre of the cairn circle, both of which would therefore seem part of the original design".

For more information about the stone row, visit the Stone Rows of Great Britain's entry for Stalldown, which includes a plan of the row and all its associated cairns.

This cairn is also recorded as part of Pastscape Monument No. 442211, as MDV4300 (Cairn touching the eastern side of the Stalldown stone row, Cornwood), and scheduled as part of Historic England List Entry No. 1015806 (Stone alignment and cairns on Stalldown).
