170618: I cycled there this morning. In my hi-vis jacket I was (walking back from the southern edge of the plateau fairly central on which the stone stands, and), approaching the stone when two farmer-types in a 4WD drove up quite quickly enough and asked me why I was in the field and what about permission. I said I didn't know where to ask, which wasn't contested, and that I'd walked only 200yds across one field. There was talk of a bull in the field, and an admission that there wasn't one then. I used my farmer disarmer tactics so well that within a few minutes a third vehicle was leaving the gateway, and the main farmer was holding the gate open for me, almost totally apologising and saying that they get lots of people in that field after "magic mushrooms and dealing drugs and we don't want those devils here".
