East Pentire Barrow

A round barrow situated on the end of Pentire Point East, which is the SW headland bordering the famous surfing beach of Fistral Bay, Newquay. Recently put on the Heritage at Risk site due to severe erosion, which you can see in the photos.

Shown as 'tumulus' on the OS map (Ordnance Survey Sheet 200 Newquay and Bodmin) A photograph posted up here was found in an old booklet of old photos of Newquay. Despite living in Newquay in the 1970s I do not recall visiting this barrow. However, I was not 'into' megalithic sites then.
