Cart Ruts on Gozo. There are a number of groups of cart ruts above the cliffs on the Ta’ Cenc plateau. The remote and bare landscape adds to the mystery of these ubiquitous features but the evidence of widespread surface quarrying here seems to confirm an association with this activity.

Ta' Cenc Cart Ruts
Ta' Cenc Cart Ruts submitted by crickhollow : These ancient mostly paired grooves in Malta’s limestone have puzzled the world for centuries. How old are they? Who created them? Why and how were they formed? (Vote or comment on this photo)

Ta' Cenc Cart Ruts
Ta' Cenc Cart Ruts submitted by enkidu41 : Cart ruts crossing with the main set seeming to show a curious double rut. One would be tempted to say that this was due to wear from the perimeter of a wheel and its protruding hub - except that many extant cart ruts are too tightly curved (given their depth) for them to be negotiated by a hubbed wheel.
