Ancient Village or Settlement in Vestfold
The site consists of a very well preserved boat house site with clear wall marks and one large round barrow. They are both located in a public park and grassy field just above the sea level with a small beach whick is a popular bathing and camping spot. The site has been prepared for visitors and the grass is beeing mowed regularly and some information posters have been placed at the parking spot at the local road. When I visited the spot it was a lot of families with children haning out here. From the road it is a short walk down to the site on a footpath.
The barrow is closest to the road, it is 16 metres in diameter and 1,5 metres in height. The entire barrow have been dug out with a large crater on top. It would originally have been highter. Despite the damage it is still easily visible in the short vegetation.
The boat house remains consists of 2 long wall marks and one short farthest from the sea, in the shape of a U. It has no wall towards the sea. The wall marks are 4-5 metres wide and almost a metre in height and easy to see. The boat house is in total 27 metres long and 10 metres wide and would have been able to house a good sized long boat.
There are three more small barrows but these are inside a tight torn brush scrub and was impossible to see but are visible on LIDAR pictures.
