Bryn Celli Ddu Cairn  Cairn  Wales  Anglesey  Visited  19th Aug 2025  3  3  3  This reconstruction of a burial mound with a ditch is easy to find, has parking and is along a well made footpath. It is a bit of a tourist attraction but I expect there are quieter times. You can go inside and it is said to be aligned with the mid summer sun rise but actually it aligns with moder...

Caer Leb  Ancient Village or Settlement  Wales  Anglesey  Visited  19th Aug 2025  2  3  5  I parked in the lay by and had a quick look on the way to walk to other sites. It’s a square or rectangular earthworks, looks a bit swampy in places but was dry enough when I passed. Not really my area of interest but I’ll look at owt if I’m passing.
Castell Bryn-Gwyn  Henge  Wales  Anglesey  Visited  19th Aug 2025  2  4  3  Easy to find along a footpath. It disappears into a garden and has obviously been used in multiple ages up to present day. In the rabbit spoil was Victorian china and glass and other modern building rubbish even quite low down, and natural as well. Very little real information on signage. Lovely b...

Bryn Gwyn Stones  Stone Circle  Wales  Anglesey  Visited  19th Aug 2025  2  5  3  This was the pick of my walk. It is tucked away in a hedge, overgrown with briars and I didn’t realise it was part of a circle until I looked on here. One of the stones is a massive upright twice my height at least. The other is smaller and laying at an angle. I spent a while here just marvellin...

Din Dryfol  Chambered Tomb  Wales  Anglesey  Visited  20th Aug 2025  2  5  1  I tried to access this site from SE and the footpath sign is removed, the gate hidden and the path impassable after the first hundred metres. Using the map and navigating by eye I went around about and all over. I found the place in the end after a whole lot of adventures and when I tried to return ...

Barclodiad-y-Gawres (Anglesey)  Passage Grave  Wales  Anglesey  Visited  20th Aug 2025  3  4  4  This important tomb is a tourist attraction. It is very well preserved by a concrete dome, locked bar gate and strategically placed lighting. A lot of “roofed” sites I’ve visited have suffered worse for the roof than being exposed but they got it right here. I would have happily paid a small f...

Bodowyr  Passage Grave  Wales  Anglesey  Visited  20th Aug 2025  3  4  4  Very photogenic dolmen which was once part of a passage grave, the spread of which is to the east 20 metres. Easy to find, parking in lay-by, over a style and across a field. It’s behind bars but it’s easy to photograph through them. Nice place, no one else about, canny views, all good.
Ty Newydd (Llanfaelog)  Chambered Tomb  Wales  Anglesey  Visited  20th Aug 2025  2  3  4  Park in the lay-by and over a style, up a barbed wire corridor path to the corner of the field where this much repaired dolmen resides. Apparently someone set a fire under the capstone which cracked it and the repair work is a bit unsympathetic but hey-ho it’s better than it could have been. Ther...

Ty Mawr (Nr Holyhead)  Standing Stone (Menhir)  Wales  Anglesey  Visited  20th Aug 2025  4  1  4  I pulled over in an industrial area and snapped a couple of long range pictures of this stone. Sandwiched between the trunk road and some high fence with extra barbed wire establishment it’s a bit lost in the modern landscape.
Trefignath  Chambered Tomb  Wales  Anglesey  Visited  20th Aug 2025  2  2  4  I’d read the reviews of this and seeing no easy parking I quickly pulled up took a couple of long range pictures and moved on. The industrial setting is what it is and there are plenty of better sites to visit.
Penrhos-Feilw  Standing Stones  Wales  Anglesey  Visited  20th Aug 2025  4  4  4  Easy to find and parking for a couple of cars on lane, a kissing gate, a stroll across the grass and there they are. Nice couple of tall standing stones that are photogenic, framing a mountain in one direction and modern farm buildings in the other. Nice place to visit but be aware you are potenti...

Ffridd Newydd  Stone Circle  Wales  Gwynedd  Visited  22nd Aug 2025  -1  5  2  After visiting the nearby dolmens I struck out to what it says on the map “stone circles remains of”. A good stroll over a nice old bridge and up a rural private lane (bridle way) which eventually peters out to a field track with stiles and views and loads of features like ruined barrows and nat...

Cors y Gedol  Chambered Tomb  Wales  Gwynedd  Visited  23rd Aug 2025  3  5  5  Great site. Easy to find if you can read a map. Car parking within 250Metres at £1.50 for all day with a cash honesty box. All on tarmac from car park, I guess good disabled access as it is right beside the not busy private lane through one gate. Great views both inland of mountains and across th...

Llecheiddior  Stone Circle  Wales  Gwynedd  Visited  23rd Aug 2025  2  5  2  I stopped by here on the way to the next circle remains. Not much to see, one upright which someone has been having fires under by the look of the soot. Lovely walk in a beautiful area and lots else to look at. I spent a good while.
Cairns SE from Pont Fadog  Cairn  Wales  Gwynedd  Visited  23rd Aug 2025  3  5  2  Passed by on a general stone bothering walk. Lovely place, superb views.
Dyffryn Ardudwy  Portal Tomb  Wales  Gwynedd  Visited  23rd Aug 2025  2  4  4  A great site, very easy to find up a short well made path from the village, parking may be an issue at times but I got lucky. What I love about this one is that you get to see the stone spread of the double dolmen tomb, so often the first thing robbed away, and the lovely way the site is maintaine...
