Bargloyer Brookbäke Grab (4)  Round Barrow(s)  Germany  Lower Saxony, Bremen  Visited  11th Aug 2021  1  4  4  A tree covered slight rise with ~10 m wide depression was all that was visible at this site.
Bargloyer Brookbäke Steingrab (3)  Chambered Tomb  Germany  Lower Saxony, Bremen  Visited  11th Aug 2021  1  3  4  The years since Martin L visited this site have not been kind, it is difficult to pick out the features he describes.
Bargloyer Brookbäke Steingrab (2)  Chambered Tomb  Germany  Lower Saxony, Bremen  Visited  11th Aug 2021  1  3  4  The two megaliths noted by Martin L remain visible, though I did not note the barrow structure as clearly... there is some rusty barbed wire fencing in the vicinity, so be careful of this whilst exploring.
Wildeshausen Hohe Steine  Chambered Tomb  Germany  Lower Saxony, Bremen  Visited  11th Aug 2021  3  4  5  This site is excellently presented. A recent information board is at some distance, so not interfereing with the pleasing ambience. Also, a nice picnic bench is provided and some small car parking space.
Visbeker Braut  Long Barrow  Germany  Lower Saxony, Bremen  Visited  11th Aug 2021  3  4  5  A splendid site, well visited this summer by a range of interested visitors. Atmospheric for such an easily reached site adjacent to a sizable road.
Bargloyer Steinkiste  Chambered Tomb  Germany  Lower Saxony, Bremen  Visited  11th Aug 2021  3  3  4  A surprisingly small capstone on top of a sizable mound.
Schmeersteine Huegelgrab (1)  Round Barrow(s)  Germany  Lower Saxony, Bremen  Visited  11th Aug 2021  3  4  3  At midday, the barrow was not immediately obvious with the summer forestfloor growth.
Schmeersteine Grosssteingrab  Chambered Tomb  Germany  Lower Saxony, Bremen  Visited  11th Aug 2021  3  4  3  Several noticeboards surround this site. A very pleasant surrounding woodland with a great diversity of undergrowth flora.
Thoelstedt Steingrab  Chambered Tomb  Germany  Lower Saxony, Bremen  Visited  11th Aug 2021  2  4  5  August seems a poor time to visit, at least in 2021 - the site was totally overgrown with stinging nettles. The information board by the small road was clearly visible, and an excellent bench for taking a break during a cycle, but as you can see from my image, details were very difficult to make ou...

Visbek Opfertisch  Chambered Tomb  Germany  Lower Saxony, Bremen  Visited  11th Aug 2021  3  4  5  A pleasant and quite well visited site in August. The large tree give a pleasing composition. It is interesting to see how out of scale the previous visitors rendered this site in etchings, certainly portraying a more dramatic tableau than that existing in actuality.
Visbek Brautwagen  Chambered Tomb  Germany  Lower Saxony, Bremen  Visited  11th Aug 2021  3  4  4  The brides coach is made of very large blocks, the most massive used in the local tombs.
Dolmen du Vern  Burial Chamber or Dolmen  France  Bretagne:Finistère (29)  Visited  16th Sep 2021  1  2  5  This site is not actually a dolmen. It is a donated tomb door, now situated at the entrance driveway of a crematorium.
Île Melon Dolmen  Burial Chamber or Dolmen  France  Bretagne:Finistère (29)  Visited  16th Sep 2021  3  5  2  This visit was made during the mid-tide, and required a reasonable swim of about 40 m. Should not be attempted alone.
Traonigou alignement de menhirs  Stone Row / Alignment  France  Bretagne:Finistère (29)  Visited  16th Sep 2021  3  5  4  At the time of visit, only the two vertical stones were visible given the thick greenery. A beautiful site, though for some reason a rope had been strung across the access path.
Allee Couverte De Traonigou  Chambered Tomb  France  Bretagne:Finistère (29)  Visited  16th Sep 2021  2  3  1  Well, this site looks impressive but it is extremely difficult to see. In the middle of a farmers field, there is no way to get a good look other than by climbing a steep and awkward verge. The entranceway for agricultural vehicles is strung with 'keep out' notices, and a wall borders the rest of th...

Dolmen de Lannidult  Burial Chamber or Dolmen  France  Bretagne:Finistère (29)  Visited  16th Sep 2021  1  4  5  various dolmen components form part of the eclectic and unusual collection of oddities in this nice church yard. There is parking adjacent to the well kept site.
Île Melon grand menhir  Standing Stone (Menhir)  France  Bretagne:Finistère (29)  Visited  16th Sep 2021  -1  4  1  The shattered remains of this menhir are quite clear when viewed from the other existing sites on the small island.
Île Melon menhirs  Standing Stones  France  Bretagne:Finistère (29)  Visited  16th Sep 2021  3  5  1  These stones are rather pleasant, and likely lined up with the large menhir which was once nearby. The stones are host to a range of interesting fauna, as is the island as a hole, with many contrasting exposure niches providing for a patchwork fauna mosaic.
Dolmen de Kerizella  Burial Chamber or Dolmen  France  Bretagne:Finistère (29)  Visited  16th Sep 2021  3  3  4  This dolmen is in a boggy corner of what appears to be a private garden. Nonetheless, viewing is possible from the roadside, and a distance of 10 m.
Dolmen de la Pointe du Dreff  Burial Chamber or Dolmen  France  Bretagne:Finistère (29)  Visited  16th Sep 2021  1  3  4  These remains are almost impossible to distinguish from coastal stones. Adjacent to a car park, not marked with any information, but surrounded by pleasing coastal views.
Dolmen de Poulliot  Burial Chamber or Dolmen  France  Bretagne:Finistère (29)  Visited  16th Sep 2021  3  4  4  I was lucky at the time of visit. The field had been cleared of crops, and the fine dolmen was clearly visible. From the grass, it seems that currently a way is kept crop free to visit the dolmen, even during the growing period. An impressive site.
Saint-Gonvarc'h menhir  Standing Stone (Menhir)  France  Bretagne:Finistère (29)  Visited  16th Sep 2021  4  5  2  I was whisked past this menhir on a bus some way distant. Even so, this massive stone was still visible above a cropped field. A fantasticly prominent stone.
Achim-Baden Huegelgrab  Round Barrow(s)  Germany  Lower Saxony, Bremen  Visited  25th Sep 2021  3  4  5  Situated a two minute walk from a LIDL car park, this site is surprisingly pleasant. Totally surrounded by recent developments, this site is an oasis of trees and vegetation in Achim. 200 m from a wilderness park.
Lousberg Flint Quarry  Ancient Mine, Quarry or other Industry  Germany  North Rhine-Westphalia  Visited  27th Oct 2021  3  5  3  The Lousberg Flint Quarry is on top of a very steep hill in the centre of the city of Aachen. There is a car park quite near the top. Much of the summit of this feature was apparently used for making flint tools, and there are some excellent information boards (in German) on the summit now, descirbi...

Fordham Puddingstone  Marker Stone  England  Essex  Visited  16th Aug 2022  4  3  5  An easily accessed and quite impressive Puddingstone, situated right next to a small road... It is situated outside of the property gates, and can therefore be admired with ease.
Grafheuvels Maarn  Round Barrow(s)  Netherlands  Utrecht  Visited  18th Aug 2022  4  5  3  This is a fenced off area of 4 or 5 burial mounds at least, covered in heather and ver beautiful.
Grafheuvels Doornse Gat  Round Barrow(s)  Netherlands  Utrecht  Visited  18th Aug 2022  3  4  4  I identify 4 individual mounds at this location, as illustrated on the uploaded map image, with photos also uploaded of each mound.
Grafheuvel Koudhoorn (45858)  Round Barrow(s)  Netherlands  Gelderland  Visited  18th Aug 2022  4  5  2  This mound is seriously beautiful, surrounded by very dense forest with a thick covering of fallen branches and thick undergrowth. A good 200 m from a poor, sandy bridal trail renders this site difficult to access, but worth it, if you are a fan of mounds!
Reckum Huegelgraeberfeld  Barrow Cemetery  Germany  Lower Saxony, Bremen  Visited  4th Sep 2024  3  4  4  This is a small wooded area surrounded by active farming. The wood seems to be more and more overgrown these last few years, but the barrows can still be seen within. A very pleasing location, early on a misty morning.
Einen Hügelgräberfeld  Barrow Cemetery  Germany  Lower Saxony, Bremen  Visited  4th Sep 2024    3  1  Unfortunately this site was utterly overgrown and impossible to find any actual barrows within... I found the noticeboards, and nothing else amongst the scrub and brambles.
Arkeburg Burgwall  Stone Fort or Dun  Germany  Lower Saxony, Bremen  Visited  4th Sep 2024  4  4  5  A nice and informative hillfort site, with wooden mocked up wall.
Visbeker Braut  Long Barrow  Germany  Lower Saxony, Bremen  Visited  4th Sep 2024  4  5  4  Always a pleasure to visit this site... glorious in the late summer evening sun. Sept 4th 2024.
Kliplev Runddysse  Burial Chamber or Dolmen  Denmark  Syddanmark  Visited  1st Mar 2025  4  4  3  Tricky site to visit... Some fencing etc seems designed to make access difficult.
Damsbo Runddysse  Burial Chamber or Dolmen  Denmark  Fyn, Langeland and Islands  Visited  1st Apr 2025  4  5  2  This mound is in a beautiful location, overlooking the Baltic amongst farmland. To reach it there is a reasonably long stroll from any proper parking spots, and I am not sure access is actually open. Anyway, the location is quite commanding.
Dolmen de la Vinya del Rei  Burial Chamber or Dolmen  Spain  Cataluña  Visited  31st Jul 2025  3  5  2  This site is part of an excellent, if steep and bumpy, walk in the low Pyrenees. Excellent views throughout. Interestingly, the entrances to some of these dolmens seem to relate to local geology.
Dolmen del Garrollar  Burial Chamber or Dolmen  Spain  Cataluña  Visited  31st Jul 2025  3  5  2  This site is part of an excellent, if steep and bumpy, walk in the low Pyrenees. Excellent views throughout. In this case, the entrance aligns with a quartz (or hard white rock of some sort) outcrop, shown on the photos.
Dolmen de la Talaia  Burial Chamber or Dolmen  Spain  Cataluña  Visited  31st Jul 2025  3  5  3  This site is part of an excellent, if steep and bumpy, walk in the low Pyrenees. Excellent views throughout.
Inscultures de la Carena  Rock Art  Spain  Cataluña  Visited  31st Jul 2025      5  I found this rock art site. I didnt know what i was reallz looking for, but found what could be some cup marks, and a cross, which i guess is more recent... here are some images of features I found within 10 m of the map marking. There was no signage, despite proximity to the megalithic walk.
Dolmen del Mas de la Mata  Burial Chamber or Dolmen  Spain  Cataluña  Visited  31st Jul 2025  3  5  1  This dolmen, like the others in this valley, was very difficult to find, even with an advanced GPS. All paths that were once in the area are overgrown with sharp, thorny bushes and are easily lost amongst boulders, trees, drops and slopes. It was a very difficult and sunny descent. There are however...
