Petit Mont in Arzon, dating to about 4600 BCE at the earliest, is one of the most significant Cairns in Britany, but unfortunately one of the most brutaly vandalized. In 1942, German troops built a bunker and Flak emplacement into the South East Corner of the cairn, which compeltely destroyed one of the chambers and caused the collapse of the second one pictured above, which has since been restored. Log Text: Joined the Midwinter Solstice Walk up to Moel Ty Uchaf organised by Chris at Corwen and Dee Valley Archaeological Society. We were fortunate to have a weather window in the constant rain so we could enjoy the views and take photos.

Saint-Uzec menhir submitted by TheCaptain on 22nd Apr 2011. Its crowning glory is the way it has been christianised with the addition of a granite cross on top and carvings on its front (southern) face, which show scenes from the bible and the "roughly hewn instruments of passion".
In the past it was also painted. This was all done in 1674, when the nearby chapel was built.

Many of the cairns show signs of interference and digging into; about five such 'holes', three very sizeable, are within this cairn.
