It is only 50 metres from the quadrilateral. It’s a very nice stone in the woodland, but I guess it can become a bit of a nightmare when crowded.

The Geant du Manio is a 6.5 metre tall menhir which is situated on the crest of a hill overlooking the Kerlescan alignments only 50 metres from the quadrilateral.

It is fairly easily found and obviously very popular because of all the erosion around it. It’s a very nice stone in the woodland, but I guess it can become a bit of a nightmare when crowded.

It has been suggested that it was once a part of a massive astronomical alignments system set up in the region, which used the Grand Menhir at Locmariaquer as its central point.

Geant du Manio
Geant du Manio submitted by SianWatson : Site in Bretagne:Morbihan (56) France We visited at the end of September and although there were a few people there it was not a problem. It was suggested to me by a visiting local that there had been a cairn associated with the stone and that within memory the low wall surrounding the site had been constructed as a sheep pen from its remaining stones.
