Log Text: The path to this stone is just to the left of the barbed wire that is blocking access to a overgrown logging track through what used to be woods. The path itself is tight and overgrown in places, and despite the stone only being about 15m of the road surprisingly twisty. The google maps location is accurate and there is room for a single car to park at the junction on the left just before the stone and room for a couple further along the road at a junction, which is where I parked.
The short twisty path helps with the feel of the site, because at this time of year the brush and scrub cover hid the stone until it suddenly loomed into view. It filled the small clearing completely, making it rather difficult to photograph but making it feel larger than life and quite overpowering.
There is what appears to be a additional piece of the stone lying about a meter NE but I couldn't see an obvious scar on the stone itself so it may have been a second stone. It is also clearly pudding stone.
The stone used to be far more accommodating to visitors, my parents have a house in the area and have seen it cycling along the road when the area was planted with pine trees, although I think it's ambience may have deepened as it's become more isolated.

Blessed by lovely weather, my visit to this strange site was enhanced by the cloud of fluffy white bog cotton dancing in the breeze. This view looks diagonally back towards the entrance gate, with Roughtor behind me in the distance, at 38degs from the largest pointed stone near to the camera. Note the way the two large pointed stones stick up on the 'west' side of the site. The tallest of these aligns at 109degs with Roughtor.
