Log Text: It would be easy to drive past this capstone located beside Little Quoit farm c. 0.80 miles E of St Columb Major on the road to Roche. There is no sign for the stone on the roadside and parking is difficult.

Pennance Entrance Grave submitted by enkidu41 on 9th Mar 2004. A neolithic Scillonian entrance grave 8m long by 2m high. The SE-facing burial chamber is 4m long x 1.4m wide and is roofed by 5 slabs.

Log Text: The main difficulty in visiting Pennance Entrance Grave is finding somewhere to park. The monument has been thoughtlessly ruined by modern farming, yet it retains some ancient ambiance.

Boskednan stone circle submitted by JimChampion on 22nd Aug 2005. The portal stones illuminated by the last rays of the setting sun. The tallest one (on the left) has a diagonal groove present on this and the opposite side. The holes that the restored stones were raised from have been covered with pegged down foliage, presumably to encourage regrowth on the bare earth.

Log Text: Bosporthennis Quoit is one of the more unusual quoits, sat on a small mound. There is a large open chamber on top of the mound. A capstone on the quoit has been carved into a millstone but left in situ.

Boskednan A submitted by AngieLake on 15th Oct 2004. This view of the 'destroyed barrow'/cairn near Carn Galva, shows its alignment with Ding Dong mine on the horizon. Boskednan circle is on slightly lower ground not far from here, and on an alignment between the 'barrow'/cairn and the
mine building. The flat sides of the pointed stones face north/south. (This pic was taken at 4pm in March 2004).
The stones sit on a higher ridge at 227m.

Log Text: Boskednan A Kerbed Cairn is easily visited on the way to Nine Maidens of Boskednan. There are intermittent kerb stones round the cairn up to 4 feet tall. As a starter before the Nine Stones of Boskednan it is very satisfying.

Log Text: Boslow Cross has the appearance of a dressed stone rather than a standing stone. I would err on the side of it being a parish boundary stone rather than a prehistoric stone.

Log Text: The Fiddler Stone is an irregular chest shaped stone in the corner of a field c. 30 yards N of SW 93919 68180. It is difficult to imagine how the stone originally looked.

St Breock Beacon Kistvaen submitted by theCaptain on 17th Dec 2012. Having another attempt from a more easterly position, I managed to get through the waist high gorse and brambles, while at times I found myself in water almost up to my knees! The things we stonehunters put ourselves through.
When I eventually got to the stones, I couldn't see much, as the surrounding area was so waterlogged and they are so overgrown, but it is clear they are a megalithic construction.

Log Text: I found St Breock Beacon Kistvaen listed on TMP before visiting Men Gurta. I was determined to locate this hidden jewel so I followed the given directions to St Breock Beacon Kistvaen. After a scramble through thick vegetation I happily succeeded. It is better to visit in Autumn/Winter as the low vegetation may allow access via the path leading to the Trig Point. Walk S down the path starting at SW 96763 68268. After c. 40 yards look E down the bank to locate a vague trail leading to the stones.

Log Text: Men Gurta is one of the must-see sites in Cornwall The massive standing stone has a commanding presence. It is easily accessible from the road. There are several other sites nearby which are also worthy of investigation.

Log Text: Dowth Passage Tomb has survived despite Man's best efforts to destroy it. It is the antithesis of Newgrange, an over-restored monument c. 1 mile S of Dowth Passage Tomb. Unfortunately the entrances were locked denying access to the passages and chambers of the mound.

Log Text: A path leading W starts off Shap Main Street between the tennis court and Croft Avenue. After c. 50 yards the path continues SW across a field for c. 120 yards to a junction of dry stane dykes. The path turns SE along a dry stane dyke for c. 50 yards to reach the substantial recumbent Giant's Foot stone.

This shot shows the huge but low (4.5ft - 1.4m) SE-facing doorway of the Carn Euny 'Beehive Hut' underground chamber, with its own short passage leading into the fogou passage which runs SW/NE, (but snaking here with a flatter, more W/E run), just outside the doorway. It is thought that the Beehive Hut (chamber) was the first structure on this site, so that originally the eastern wall of the fogou passage would not have obstructed the view.
