Unlike many of the other quoits in Cornwall, Bosporthennis is unusual in that the remains of the surrounding mound can still be seen.

Of the chamber itself four uprights of the chamber remain along with the capstone which has fallen. Interestingly at some time in the past the capstone was adapted to a millstone but was never removed from the site.

we do indeed have to be vigilant that these sites do not get destroyed like this.

Re: Bosporthennis Quoit by Anonymous on Monday, 18 October 2010
To the eternal shame of "English" Heritage, this site remains unscheduled and is thus unprotected by the law. In the 90s, we nearly lost its circular capstone when it was dragged away by the farmer then farming these fields, and who intended to sell it as a garden ornament! I found out; had kittens because the site had no statutory protection; then realised that the farmer didn't own the site - the National Trust did. They made him put it back in exactly the position it had occupied for centuries.
