At the top of Lord Hereford's Knob used to be a walkers cairn, but this has now been flattened, leaving a sort of circular base of stones, in which at one point I am sure is the remains of a cist, with two side set stones creating a right angle visible at ground level.

Log Text: A blowy and blustery bank holiday Monday trip to the Black Mountains, we head up the Gospel Pass to park, then walk southwest along the top to Lord Hereford's Knob (Twmpa) and on to Rhos Dirion for a sit down and lunch. At the top of Lord Hereford's Knob used to be a walkers cairn, but this has now been flattened, leaving a sort of circular base of stones, in which at one point I am sure is the remains of a cist, with two side set stones creating a right angle visible at ground level. This would then make it just like all the other prominent tops along the Beacons / Black Mountain ridge. Back the way we came along the ridgeline to the car, thankfully we didn't get soaked, but it was very windy. Drive down to Llanthony Priory for a pint. Lovely day.

Llanddowror Standing stone submitted by pab on 3rd Nov 2008. Slender and modest standing stone which is on the flood-plain of the river Taf near St Clears (not to be confused with the slightly larger river Taff running through Cardiff!).

Log Text: Travelling to Tenby and notice a standing stone marked just off the A477, so go have a look. The A477 has been rebuilt and almost passes over the top of this stone, so park in the village and walk along the track under the new road and there it is in the field ahead. Is that really it? looks way too small compared to the pictures I have seen. Yep, it is. Now I guess the art is to get pictures which make it look bigger!

Cross Stones, Llanddowror submitted by pab on 31st Jan 2009. Both 'cross stones' referred to by COFLEIN, the nearer (easterly) one being larger and sporting a much clearer cross marking.

Log Text: On the way back to the car, I notice "Cross Stones" marked on the map, so go look for them in the playing field beyond the churchyard. What looks like two stubs of once larger stones, a cross carving can be seen on the larger of the two stones, but difficult to see anything on the smaller stone in the shade.

Log Text: Park at Bosherston, then walk alongside the lily ponds to Broadhaven beach, then up onto the cliffs and around to the east to Stackpole Head, passing some tremendous geology, with sea stacks, steep sided coves, arches, caves and round holes. I later notice on the Portal that the thumb of land sticking out from Stackpole Head, Mowingword Promontory, is included as a promontary fort. Has to be said that I saw no evidence of any fortifications, but didn't look too hard.
