This is the view from the South East, on a bearing of approx. 300 degrees North West, along the very flat and dead vertical "smiley"faced Northern flank. If someone hadn't thoughtfully planted a tree in the way you would be able to see that this stone is aligned on the top of Myarth hill (not the summit), beyond this the line goes to Bwllch standing stone, out of site from here. The strongest contender for the bronze age robbed cist, a robbed cist with some cairn material left over, overlaid by the fort wall, sounds like looking for a needle in a haystack... a haystack made of needles. But it's in the right place and I can imagine a cist once being where the green low bushes are now.

This site, high up on a hilltop ridge above Llamhamlach, commands panoramic views along the floodplains of the Usk river. The north-facing chamber of the tomb, with capstone in situ, lies just off-centre in a much denuded oval shaped mound 23.0 metres in length and 15.5 metres wide. Several upright stones outside the chamber may once have delineated a forecourt area suggesting that Ty Illtyd may have been a simple terminal chamber tomb. The...
