One of the finest examples of prehistoric rock art in the Peak District. Discovered in 1965 on a large earthfast boulder 25m east of the enclosure , the design consists of a series of cup and ringmarks together with a small spiral and two circles that enclose multiple cupmarks. Bedd Gorfal circle photographed very late in the day after a visit to Bryn Cader Faner, this was one of those ‘Just about time for one more before dark visits!’ and by this stage the light was extremely poor for photography, Tripodded at ISO400 plus a little brightening in Photoshop was needed to get this still somewhat grainy image.

Pudding Barrow submitted by JimChampion on 8th Jan 2005. January 2005. Looking north-east at the Pudding Barrow. Composite image, camera resting on a post of the barrows protective fence: the only way to capture the barrow without the fence spoiling the view. Conifers of Stockley inclosure can be seen behind, with a camoflagued water-tank lurking in the trees to the right. I'll return to this spot in the summer, see how the ambience changes when the barrow is surrounded by caravans.

The cairns are substantial, and writing as one who has walked miles to see much lesser cairns, this hilltop is a worthy visit.
My friend, 'Wintertrees', helps gave a sense of scale.
