The Cork Stone is one of a number of impressive natural outcrops on Stanton Moor. Composed of weathered sandstone it resembles a huge mushroom or cork. As with the Andle Stone nearby it is covered in graffiti from the 19th and 20th centuries and has steps carved into the side to allow access to the top.

Neu Gaarz Dolmen submitted by weldersdog- on 22nd Jun 2026. 21 June 2026, a clear sky and a wonderful sunset at around 21.45 a clock. Today the sun sets at around 314° north and the chamber of this dolmen is oriented in this direction. A lovely and and easy to access site. Little offerings in and around the chamber make this site even more lovely.

Whitby Abbey submitted by TheCaptain on 27th Nov 2024. Whitby Abbey September 2024, in its bleak windblown position on top of the hill. I found the weathering shapes and patterns on the stone to be fascinating. The museum was also good to visit with many items of ancient historic interest.
