Situated on a small terrace enclosed by trees and outcrops it feels very private and there are evidently frequent gatherings by people lighting fires in the middle of the circle. Not easy to find, bloody awful to get back to the car from in the dark...

SW of Kilgarvan, Co. Kerry. Portal stones at NW. Accessible by foot after a 10-minute drive from Kilgarvan. Ask for directions at O'Suilleabhain's Pub in the village.
Note to visitors: if you find yourself in a farmyard with three ferocious dogs, you've gone too far. Go back down the hill and look for the metal gate on the right. The circle is on a small hill beyond the gate.

Log Text: Easily accessed and located from the main road. Travelling west there is a pull in on the left with a sign to the well. A few minuets walk on the footpath leads you to this well which seems to be well visited judging by the offerings of all types. Well worth a visit. I stop by from time to time when I am in the area.

Log Text: Revisited to record GPS location and to take more photos. Site found easily this time with knowledge from a previous visit and ViewRanger OS map on my iPhone. After parking on the right near quarry entrance a short seven minuets walk took me to the site 80% cloud, heavy showers, 13 deg C. GPS reading 51.91099,-9.59337 at site. Both close up and setting photos were taken.

Log Text: Well signposted from the main road. Parking good with toilets on site too.
This restored fort is well worth a visit. You can enter the fort and even climb the walls using the several built in stairways.

There are about forty shallow indentations on the top of this slab but they are very weathered.

Log Text: Many examples of rock art from very clear to almost erased/obscured. Large scattered site that is well worth a visit or preferably more than one if you want explore this area.
A superb setting easily accessed initially before requiring rock scrambling and hunting on both sides of the road.

Lia Fail submitted by dodomad on 1st Jun 2014. The Lia Fáil stone on the world famous Hill of Tara was badly vandalised in May 2014. During the incident, two tins of thick gloss paint were poured over the stone.
