Borum Eshøj submitted by Tonnox on 7th Apr 2021. Borum Eshøj. Burial mound. The three graves found in Borum Eshøj is the best preserved oak chests in Denmark. About 1871 the barrow was excavated and three oak coffins was discovered containing an old woman, an young man and a old man. The oak chests is dated to about 1350 BC. During the excavation most of the soil was removed. The original size was 7 x 40 meter. Now 3 meter steel strips mark the original circumference. It has been one of Denmark´s largest burial mounds. Log Text: The finds in these burial mounds can be admired in the National Museum in Copenhagen. A Bronze Age house has now been built right next to the burial mounds.
