Giant's Graves (Isle of Arran) submitted by tsujigiri on 28th Jul 2005. First shot from behind the site. The day was a bit rainy off and on and the overcast sky made the lighting a bit iffy for my digital camera. The climb up was very invigorating and well worth the effort.
Unfortuneately, I neglected to get a shot from the front of the main site. Maybe next time I'm up there.

Appears to be damaged through excavation (a slice removed immediately behind entrance blocking stones?) but access close to is not possible as the area is fenced and also topped by electric fencing which seems somewhat unnecessary?
Two round barrows/cairns close by and seemingly in alignment also of interest.

Girdle Stanes submitted by nicoladidsbury on 31st Mar 2004. This is an evocative large stone circle, surrounded by ancient hawthorn trees which are covered in large lichen. Half the circle has been eroded by the river running by leaving only a semi circle. The stones stand on a low earth bank. Close by are the Loupin Stanes. Log Text: Red sandstone stone row (3 stones) but separated by an access road. Unknown if others originally made up the row, a cist was found aligned with the stones in 1980

Aligned southeast to northwest, the barrow mound is now about 24 metres long, although originally it would have been longer and still survives to a height of about a metre and width of 13 metres at the southeast end behind the chamber to about 8 metres at the northwestern end. This collapsed burial chamber still has two large uprights in situ, another horizontal slab behind the tomb is believed to be the capstone of the collapsed burial chamber. Harland Moor submitted by kelpie on 23rd Feb 2004. This circle consists of twelve edge-set boulders. It has a hollow in the centre thought to be a medieval ore-pit.
To the south lies a cairn field and a stone that I believe to be an outlier to the circle.

I tried to fly the kite here but the wind was too inconsistent to safely get the camera high enough. Here instead of a kite I used a carp fishing pole, with a camera attachment on the end to lift my camera higher (6-7 metres).
