Hampton Down stone circle submitted by baz on 9th Dec 2001. Hampton Down stone circle, nr Portesham (SY596865). I counted ten stones, but Burl suggests eight or nine originally. (There`s a small stone at the middle right of this photo.)

Log Text: In a field, very ploughed out, no more than a metre high, but of course it's in a beautiful spot with great views. A gentleman drove by and told me to get orf his land although a bit more politely.

Grey Mare and her Colts submitted by Horatio on 23rd Apr 2024. Aligned southeast to northwest, the barrow mound is now about 24 metres long, although originally it would have been longer and still survives to a height of about a metre and width of 13 metres at the southeast end behind the chamber to about 8 metres at the northwestern end. This collapsed burial chamber still has two large uprights in situ, another horizontal slab behind the tomb is believed to be the capstone of the collapsed burial chamber.
