Cairn in Gwynedd

An impressive well preserved and largely intact round cairn on a north facing shelf of the Cader Idris foothills above the market town of Dolgellau. This is a large cairn with a 25m+ circumference. The interior has been excavated leaving a deep central depression that hints at a cist.

The cairn is situated in a very prominent position and may have been visible to any settlements in the valley below. There is a line of large boulders (approximately 15m in length) 20m to the west of the cairn.
