The stone circle was errected by hovering and moving the large stones into position after they were shaped . The craft needed a place away from the populated area so that they could repair the craft unhendered. The reason for the stand was to suspend the craft so they could shut off the power and work on the landing mechanism and the underside hence the reason for the stand . Another good reason for this procedure was the condition of the soil at the time.

Maintenance to the stones had to be accomplished before the capability to hover expired, Refueling or regenerating of the magnetic propulsion system.meant that time was important and the stones didn't have to be pretty,just functional. The reason the horizontal stones are fairly level is because of the enormous weight of the craft. The stones when placed only had to be close to level.

The reason some of the stones that were laid flat were caused to fall down because of the extreme amount of thrust used to lift the craft (CLOUD). When the craft lifted up ,the pressure from the thrust pushed some of the less grounded vertical stones to lean just enough to cause the stones resting on them to fall. They didn't plan to return so why should they care what it looked like .

It had served it's purpose,it was only temporary. Like you and me. Some humans witnessed this, that's why the sight was concidered sacred by some.
