DigsThe Dunragit Project involves the investigation of a large Later Neolithic (c. 2500 BC) palisaded enclosure, located near to Glenluce in Galloway, SW Scotland. The third season is due to start in a week¹s time, and we have places for a few volunteers. Two previous seasons of excavation have produced evidence of massive timber uprights, cremation deposits, and artefacts including Grooved Ware and Beaker pottery and flint tools.
Accommodation is by camping, with showers and cooking facilities on site. Food will be prepared by the cook, and will be free of charge. No fees of any kind will be demanded from volunteers.
Minibus transport to site will be available from Manchester on Sunday 19th August, and volunteers can be collected from Stranraer train or bus stations.
Places are limited, and preference will be given to archaeology students and experienced excavators.
Anyone interested should contact me at [email protected] or Fax 0161 275 3331, before Friday 17th August, when I leave for Scotland.
