4-8 August 2002. A chance to get creative the Celtic way! Recreate a timepiece from the days of the Celts to take home as a momento of our past. Come to Colchester Castle Museum and join in the fun with Sally Whelton who will be working with children to expand their creative flare by trying their hands at the ancient craft of pottery to make your own Celtic cross from Colchester Castle clay. Taking inspiration from the collection of Celtic objects on display in the museum.

Sally Whelton is an experienced potter who has worked in schools and is a regular guest at fairs and festivals. 'Pottery has become such a popular activity with children in the Castle Museum. It's great for children to be able to experience a new craft without any of the mess at home.'

An adult must accompany children under 8 years of age. Parents beware! Colchester Castle clay reaches parts other clay doesn't. Wear clothes suitable for lots of messy fun!

Cost: Admission charge to the Castle Museum plus 50p to contribution towards costs of materials.

The sessions begin at 11.00 am, 12 noon, 1.00 pm, 2.30 pm and 3.30 pm lasting about 45 minutes.
