I'm delighted to announce the winners of our latest competition. This is for the best photos/images/diagrams etc submitted to us in September and October 2012. We normally call it a 'photo' competition but they don't have to be as you will see. I have again had to combine months as votes were a bit thin on the ground. If you want this competition to continue we need more people voting for their favourite images. Anyway, on to the very deserving winners and highly commended entries:

1st Prize: Cist Cerrig by Postman
2nd Prize: Mulfra Quoit by Paul Blades
3rd Prize: Midnight and The Moon by Jackdaw1
View the images and more Highly Commended entries below.

1st Prize: Cist Cerrig by Postman

2nd Prize: Mulfra Quoit by Paul Blades

3rd Prize: Midnight and The Moon (original artwork) by Jackdaw1

Congratulations to all, as well as the kudos of having won out of all those images, you have all won an exclusive Megalithic Portal T shirt or books from our Online Shop. There are some more Highly Commended photos with great scores that I thought you'd like to see:

Ponc y Garreg Hir by Guile

Lakehead Hill East by CazzyJane

Maen Llia with star trails by Cerrig

Ohe Schalenstein by Martin L

Thanks as always to everyone who voted and entered. Just as a recap, each month all the photos submitted to the Megalithic Portal have a chance to win by being voted on by you, the Megalithic Portal visitors and contributors.

PLEASE VOTE!

There is still time to vote on the February, March and April, competitions. We will be announcing the results of the next competition soon.

You can score photos for visual or archaeological merit or for any other reason you like. A vote from any person will start off the scoring, remember that you are allowed to vote for your own photos once if you would like to put them forward. Equally you do not have to have your photos rated or voted on if you don't want to. Please contact Andy B via the 'Contact Editor' link if you do not want to take part.

More details on the monthly photo competitions are here.

Thanks for placing me in here people-I didn't expect to come anywhere near. Wacom Cintiq is a great machine to use, nowadays,no messy paint to concern myself with down the right side of my hand or on my arm.Brush strokes are intuitive and whichever art software you use...Corel paint, artrage, sketchbook, photoshop,Z brush etc. Thanks again folks!

Nice shot Cerrig, but one question. How did you import the SAP (SpirogrAPh) file into Photoshop? Those gritty bits normally bu**er up the buffer!
