MysteriesA true monolith re-appeared some months ago in strange circumstances...During archaeological excavations prior to further development at Stansted (London`s third airport), a "decommissioned" megalith was discovered within a Middle Bronze Age settlement. The village enclosure consisted of a number of posthouses and rubbish pits, surrounding a large circular building entered along a long corridor of timber posts.
Next to this building was a large pit accommodating a huge sandstone megalith.
No clues were found as to where or when the stone had originally been erected.
The buried megalith is likely to be re-erected close to its burial site at the entrance to one of the airport carparks.
