Description
Marker Stone at NZ 72730 11793 – Viewed looking southerly, March 2022. The yellow arrow indicates an embankment and behind that though not clear in the image is a cutting, both part of Paddy Wadell’s railway as mentioned in the site description. When they attempted to build this railway they started from both ends of the line. The embankment and cutting in the image are as far as they got working from the northern end (Lingdale Junction) before they gave up. The smoke in the distance is heather burning by gamekeepers which they are allowed to do between October and 15th April.
