Description
David Roberts "Under the Grand Portico, Philae," 1838.
As a personal observation, a comparison of the coloured reliefs on the Grand Portico columns, as copied to the painting "Under the Grand Portico, Philae" 1838 by the Scottish artist David Roberts; when viewed against the post-relocation state of the same columns, reveals the disappearance of the coloured reliefs which occurred over time during several decades of high water levels in Lake Nasser which were caused by the raising of the Aswan Low Dam before the Temple was relocated to Agilkia Island.
