rolandkeates visited on 1st Jan 2013 - their rating: Cond: 3 Amb: 4 Access: 4 I believe this to be a sheep scratching stone. I asked the farmer who mentioned his family had been farming sheep on the land for decades.

The mystery has been solved with regards this standing stone.

This is actually a field boundary stone put in place during the 1980’s when Fluorspar was being mined.

I also "discovered" this stone today. There is another smaller one about 40m away too. Anyone know anything?
