Winterbourne Monkton submitted by TheCaptain : Large sarsen stone in the churchyard thought to be removed from the Neolithic Millbarrow (Vote or comment on this photo)
A large sarsen stone in the churchyard thought to be removed from the Neolithic Millbarrow. Near the NW corner of the church the footings of the church are quite different in construction from the rest, except for a similar stretch near to the SE corner. One might be forgiven for considering that the church had been built partly, or entirely, on top of an older, simpler structure.

Winterbourne Monkton submitted by Thorgrim : Sarsen slab now in the churchyard. It was removed from the nearby Neolithic Millbarow in 1710 to bury the Rev Brinsden after 40 years service. Grrrr! (Vote or comment on this photo)
