It seems that Castle Ring is more of a fortified enclosure than what is generally regarded as a hill-fort. Access is easy with a car park off Warden Road which runs from Presteign to Beggar's Bush and a short walk along a track through a coppiced woodland.
This site is recorded as Coflein NPRN 306369, which tells us: "Castle Ring, Pen Offa, is an oval enclosure, 136m by 106m, defined by banks, ditches and a counterscarp, with simple entrances to the north-west and south-east".
