Golden Grove
Golden Grove submitted by pab : Llangenny Stone, Easter 2007, which the RCAMHW site describes as "A standing stone, 1.22m high, by 0.61m by 0.3m, upon the right bank of the Grwyne Fawr" ADMIN: Do you have a grid ref for this stone? Do we already have it listed? (Vote or comment on this photo)
Marked as standing stone on the map, the stone is visible in the field adjacent to the road by the Dragon's Head Inn car park. A footpath runs through the field close to the river.

An evocatively named site, the Golden Grove stone is a 1.2m tall rectangular block of grey limestone. It shares its alternative name of the Druid's Altar with the steep hill immediately to the west.

Golden Grove, Standing Stone in Powys, SO239178

This standing stone lives in a little field besides the stream at Llangenny, just to the southeast of Crickhowell. Parking is possible beside the Dragon Head Inn, from where the stone can be seen, and a footpath leads downstream through the field where the stone is found. The stone is about 4 feet high, and is positioned in a sheltered position just below the steep hillside. It stands on what looks a bit like the remains of a cairn, although it is possible that it is a natural feature.
