Stone Circle in Carmarthenshire

A circle about 6m in diameter on a low plateau to the west of Crug Siarls hill. Half the circle is obscured by tall sedge. Coflein (NPRN 521471) says there are 14 stones but I was only able to find 11, 6 of which were obvious, with 5 much smaller ones buried in the grass and sedge. The largest stone is 0.5m square and situated on the south side of the circle.

There appears to be a small cairn 3m in diameter a few metres to the south of the circle and a modern post about 12m away, also to the south. Assuming it remains standing this is the thing to look for if you are wanting to find the circle.

Access is by no means straightforward, and I had to make a second attempt after failing from the south several years ago. Approach from the east via Nant-yr-Ast farm and ask there for permission to park. From this direction you avoid the hazardous mire between the farm and Blaen Rhisglog Plantation, although there is a small shallow river to cross. It is about 1km walk out from the farm through sheep pasture.
