Cator Common Cairn Circle
Cator Common Cairn Circle submitted by davep : The Cator Common Embanked Cairn Circle, to be found within Cator Pound. From the Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks (PDW) website, site 90. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Cairn with surrounding circle of stones on Cator Common, to the east of Bellever Bridge, Dartmoor.

This embanked cairn is featured on the Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks (PDW) website - see their entry for the Cator Common Embanked Cairn Circle, which tells us the cairn is to the south west of Cator Pound, is 15ft in diameter, 3ft high and comprised small stones overgrown with gorse and heather.

The cairn is recorded as Pastscape Monument No. 442453 and as MDV5978 (Cairn on Cator Common) on the Devon and Dartmoor HER. The latter tells us this cairn is "Hollow towards centre. Retaining circle of c.28 upright slabs, mostly turned inwards. Diameter 18.0m, height 0.6m."

The cairn is also scheduled as part of Historic England List ID 1003297 (Two cairns on Cator Common)
