markj99 visited on 15th Sep 2018 - their rating: Cond: 3 Amb: 4 Access: 3 Knocknocher stone pair's proximity to White Cairn, Boreland may be significant. They are not in themselves impressive but they may have been waymarkers to the cairn. The stones are fenced off to protect them from cattle. Beef cattle are usually present in the field so caution should be exercised.

A pair of stones in Dumfries & Galloway, one of which has sadly fallen. May also go by the name of Boreland or Clugston Burn. They are now safely penned in behind wire - the fence posts can be seen from the lane that runs to the south. Located in the same field as White cairn .

For more information see Canmore site no. 62860 which first describes these as 'possible outlying stones' but then adds: "Two slightly pointed weather-worn boulders 4.8m apart. The northerly stone is 0.8m by 0.6m by 1.1m high and the southerly one is 1.4m by 0.7m by 1.3m high. There is no evidence to suggest that these stones once formed part of a stone circle." They are classed as Prehistoric standing stones.
