Caldey Ogham Stone
Caldey Ogham Stone submitted by pab : Front view of the 6th Century Caldey Stone. (Vote or comment on this photo)
The Caldey Stone is in St Illtyd's Church, part of the Old Priory on Caldey Island. The stone dates to 5th or 6th Century, and it contains inscriptions both in Latin and in the ancient Ogham script which originated in Ireland.

The Ogham script consists of markings around the upper edge of a stone - in the case of the Caldey Stone, much of the top is unfortunately missing. I had not come across the Ogham script before reading up for my visit to Caldey, but is seems there are a few hundred located around the Celtic 'fringe', so I hope to learn and visit more.

A couple of links are given in the comments below for anyone else who wants to learn more....

Although the current church 'only' dates back to C12 to C16, its roots are far older, and the site has that wonderful atmosphere which only comes with a place which has been held sacred for many centuries. In fact, Caldey has definitely been a religious centre for over 1500 years, and that is only with Christian worship!

This stone is recorded as Coflein NPRN 415019, which tells us the stone was first recorded as having been dug up in a garden nearby; by 1867 it had been attached to the south wall of St David's Church, but in 1894 was taken back to the old priory and fixed to the porch wall of St Illtyd's Church. It was then moved to its current location in the nave south wall before 1950. The Coflein record also gives details, and a translation, of the inscriptions on both wide faces of the stone.

The Journal of Antiquities also features a page for Caldey Island, Pembrokeshire, Wales, which includes a detailed description of this stone, together with a drawing, local folklore and other historic sites on the island.

As promised in the main site entry, some links for those who, like me, hadn't come across Ogham script before:
