A pair of standing stones near the River Add in Argyll

The south-eastern stone has a single cup mark about two feet up from the ground surface. The two stones are only around 0.35m thick and appear to line up with the hill on which the dun of Dunadd was later built.

These standing stones are recorded as Canmore ID 29583, which tells us this is the second group of three stones situated NE and NW of Dunamuck on level ground west of the River Add. The more northerly stone of these two stands 2.75 metres high; the other stone stands 4 metres high with a pointed top, with a single cup mark 0.9 metres from its base on its western face, which Canmore says is probably of natural origin.

Update October 2019: For information on how this stone pair relates to the nearby Dunamuck stone row, see the Stone Rows of Great Britain's entry for Dunamuck, North, which includes annotated photographs illustrating the visual relationship between these two monuments.

I think I have put the wrong photos on this page, as this site is supposed to be two prostrate slabs 13- and 10-feet long, lying 10 feet apart.

There are photos of two different standing groups on Geograph so that makes three groups, unless someone has re-erected these two recently and these are them? They don't quite match the description though.

Yes Andy these are two site's, no more the a few 100 meters apart.
NR89SW 24, Leacaichluaine NR 8483 9232. These are the two lying down next to the Cairn, and separated by a wall are=
    NR89SW 27, Dunmuck S, NR 8483 9248. These are the pair of standing stone's.
These Grid reference's are taken from the RCAHMS website, even though l cross reference between 3-4 websites 'Google earth, Geograph, Megalithic and RCAHMs' I aways end up at RCAHMs database. Please check these for me, as this is a very interesting landscape and i do not want to get it wrong.
    Thanks Andy

OK I've updated the map ref for this pair, which puts them 160m N of your Dunamuck stones / Leacaichluaine and lines them up with what's on the OS map. The Geograph photo contrinbutor was right. Unfortunately Geograph people rarely seem to go beyond what's listed on the OS map. There's such a lot else they miss, like these stones. Thanks.
